I know many people are curious how Henry is doing, and since I'm not entertaining visitors yet I thought I'd give an update about Henry. Hopefully this will satisfy curiosity until visiting hours begin.
Henry has ups and downs with sleeping. He sleeps in my arms extremely well, but sleeping in the crib is about 50%. I start to grouse to myself about this, but then I consider that he hasn't even been with us for a week and I have to say he's doing a great job for all he's been through.
He is certainly warming up to his sisters. Lydia is all over him and working extremely hard to make Henry like her. It's very sweet, but we have had to have her back off at times. Lydia is also trying to be so very helpful. Right now the ultimate compliment I can give her is to say, "you're my #1 helper!" She lights up with a smile at that. Trixie also loves Henry. She loves to give him kisses and is always saying, "Mama, Henry is such a cutie!" Reality, though, shows Trixie often taking her toys and going off by herself to play. I'd say at this point that Trixie likes the idea of having a baby brother more than the reality of having a baby brother. Today, though, Henry followed Trixie around while Lydia was at school and Trixie liked it that she was being followed and could make Henry smile.
I was extremely happy yesterday when Henry finally at a large amount of food at each meal. In Korea his foster mom made a big point to tell me that he eats very large amounts of food (I think she was a little embarrassed about this). When he ate a lot yesterday and again today I felt like Henry was really starting to be more comfortable here. I fed Henry a couple jars of baby food leftover from what Korean Air gave us. He wasn't very interested in those, he wants table food!! So that's what he gets. Let's see, what does Henry like? Does he like:
cheese-- oh yes!
fruit-- yes
strawberries-- oh yes!
ham-- yes
turkey-- yes
chicken-- oh yes!
Puffs-- double yes
Cheerios-- yes
corn-- yes

Bread Co. broccoli cheese soup-- oh yes!
Is there anything Henry doesn't like? Green grass -- yes he tried it, and no he doesn't like the feel or taste of it!
Henry has a happy disposition and he smiles and laughs quite a bit. Peek-a-Boo always gets a smile or laugh and a tummy zerber always gets a giggle. He is loving exploring our house, pulling out and throwing everything he sees on the floor, going up the stairs and dancing to music. It has only been a few days, though, and I definitely see panic when Brent or I are not in Henry's line of vision and even when Henry is playing happily he runs up to me every 4-5 minutes with his arms up. I pick him up and snuggle him for about 10 seconds, then he squirms and wriggles himself back down so that he can go play for another 4-5 minutes. Even though my back is in lots of pain and I can't quite stand up straight right now I just love all the hugs and snuggles with Henry. He is so sweet and I'm very happy that he comes to me to be comforted.
Henry is just staying home for a while, so his world is pretty small right now. He is making great progress towards being happy and comfortable, though -- and that is my goal.

Thanks for the update! It sounds like the first week is going pretty well. That's a great picture of the three siblings! I have yet to capture a picture with all three smiling and looking at the camera. :)
Hey, Lisa!
I was hoping for an "At Home" post! It seems like the adjustment period is going VERY well for everyone! Just wanted to let you know we are 'on standby' and are ready for a visit as soon as you all are ready :-)
Give Henry and his sisters big (((hugs))) from Lucy and Reese!
:-)
Good to hear Henry is doing so well. It is as if he has always been with you!!!
I love the photo of your beautiful three kids. They are meant to be siblings!!!
Lydia and Trixie, you are so nice sisters!!! Henry is a lucky guy to have you as his big sisters.
Sorry for your backpain. I hope it doesn't get worse. Please take care.
I have become a fan of your blog.
Your kids are so cute! I love the one of the 3 of them together! Thanks for the great update!
Wow! It sounds like a great adjustment period at this point! From what I've learned the fact that he checks back with you every few minutes is a HUGE step toward attachment to you. It's a wonderful sign! The kids are all so adorable! Hugs as you continue to move forward as a family (and hope you get some sleep, rest, and a little less back pain in the near future!). :)
It sounds like your whole family are doing amazingly well. The IDEA of a sibling compared to the reality of it must be an adjustment. Henry seems like a very happy boy. :)
This is just so exciting. He's really doing great and it's so nice your family is settling in. I'm very, very happy for you! Can't wait to meet the little guy again! He's so darn cute! Keep posting - that way I don't have to call you and bother you for updates :-) Thanks!
Beth
